That's a serious error - 5%
My Scangauge is also slightly off compared to the car's display, but the errors are centered around 1%.
The Scangauge however, gives my actual speed (compared to GPS) while the car always indicates a slightly higher speed (legally it can't indicate too low).
The car also indicates a higher distance covered than the SG, so these are most likely directly related.
I have some data to compare the car, SG and GPS numbers to each other, but haven't gotten around to analyse them.
