Back on mcrews original subject, consider this:
On the Mulsanne Straight (back in the 60s before they put in the chicanes to slow it down) at Lemans (longest straightaway in racing other than Bonneville) the Shelby Daytona Coupe powered by a carbureted 289 would overtake and pass the GT40 powered by a 427. Oh! And it would do the same to the Ferrari.
That says volumes about the aerodynamic excellence over the Shelby Daytona Coupe. We’re talking speeds well in excess of 200 MPH.
