Aww, come on now. I own the equipment, I can change it to do what I want it to do! Granted, I don't have an ECU that does anything, but I do have a WRT54G router running tomato.
There
are a lot of different styles and hardware versions, but plenty of ECUs share the same platform I am sure.
Just keep in mind that bricking is a risk you must take.
