A bit of further research tells me that the Aygo also has a 4-star rating, so, in the FE stakes, you'd be a fool to consider the Yaris instead. The Yaris can be had more cheaply, of course, being older, but if you wish to satisfy your wife's desire for a "new car" then you might as well go for the Aygo. Case closed, I think.
