Just buy a Prius that is already near your house

I'm Ok with you about that "problem" which is both ecological and economical (giving work to your country or a country near yours).

Yaris are build in France. IIRC C1, 107 & Aygo are built in the Czech Republic. Auris hybrid are built in UK.

Denis.

I meant the production line in terms of materials being gathered, but I see your point. They are spendy here, still > £8.5K - which is more money than I have ever spent on any of my own cars Denis

Aygo does more MPG but is more flimsy. Yaris is heavier, I had quite misplaced the 1.0 VVT model - same engine...

EDIT - Figures for t'Aris.

Quote:
Fuel consumption (urban) 44.1 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 57.6 mpg
Fuel consumption (combined) 52.3 mpg
0 - 62 mph 15.7 seconds
Top speed 96 mph
Cylinders 3
Valves 12 v
Engine power 69 bhp
Engine torque 70 lbs/ft
Not so good in FE (heavier).

A bit of further research tells me that the Aygo also has a 4-star rating, so, in the FE stakes, you'd be a fool to consider the Yaris instead. The Yaris can be had more cheaply, of course, being older, but if you wish to satisfy your wife's desire for a "new car" then you might as well go for the Aygo. Case closed, I think.

Interesting, the Pixo / Alto alternative only gets 3 stars in NCAP.

Well, the Aygo itself wasn't specifically tested but the C1 was. Between them, I don't think that there's anything different structurally. Also, tax is £20. Winner. considering that and the extra 10mpg, you could make back the extra money that you spent on the Aygo (rather than the Yaris) in a few years, depending on how far you drive, of course.
