If you do use wax, I suggest NOT doing the entire boattail at once. The RTV still sticks really good, and requires some elbow grease to get it loose. I did this on my drivers door this weekend, and it worked, but I didn't wait long enough for the RTV to fully dry and had a hand covered with wet RTV.
But the seal works!
