I have had car's original blanket, but it was not enough, I put some Vibroplast M1 there too, after that ice is not melting from hood when I'm driving, also engine noise was slightly reduced.
I have put stuff almost everywhere, to make car more quiet, it is 3 times more effective than same thickness of bitumen and of course a lot lighter.

Of course it is again more added weight that works against fuel economy, I doubt that savings are enough to overcome added weight, but with age I have learned to value quietness in my daily ride.
