Cutting a hole in the sheet over the headers is too technically challenging for you? Then don't do it.

LOL now lets not make this personal. The mod doesnt apply to me. I have a problem with overheating in the desert not keeping warm. I have used the thermal wraps to keep heat in my exhaust and not heat soak my radiator and intercooler cause we all know hot air is bad for gasoline burning motors longevity and efficiency. Just thought if you expand the idea and cover your exhaust AND motor the heat will be trapped where you want it considerably more then a piece of flammable cardboard.

I don't think I'd ever be comfortable with such a contraption under the hood.

It gets pretty hot there, even hotter when something is wrong, like the leaking injector seal I had earlier this year.
The heat made the foam insulation detach from the hard plastic engine cover.

Both of them have been under there for about 10 years now, winter and summer.

klean, you knew perfectly well the mod didn't apply to your car as presented (even though it could easily be made to work on your car too) so...

i'm sure you could combine heat wrap and the cardboard to work, but if you're in the desert i don't see a need for it

I have had car's original blanket, but it was not enough, I put some Vibroplast M1 there too, after that ice is not melting from hood when I'm driving, also engine noise was slightly reduced.

I have put stuff almost everywhere, to make car more quiet, it is 3 times more effective than same thickness of bitumen and of course a lot lighter.

Forgot to took pic from hood installation, but here is pic from partial installation of trunk:

Of course it is again more added weight that works against fuel economy, I doubt that savings are enough to overcome added weight, but with age I have learned to value quietness in my daily ride.
