Ha Ha,
I've done that a few times myself. I started to loop the extension cord over the drivers side mirror as a reminder. Of course, that could lead to a missing side mirror.
Another thing I used to do was put a bright orange spray can lid on the shifter when I plugged in the block heater.
Sometimes the nut behind the wheel is low on RAM.
