When I went in to have the high oil level corrected, they talked about sucking out some oil, so that could be their method of getting out the oil.

But apparently, Citroen warns not to do that on the 1.6HDi.
Oil needs to be drained by gravity while warm; with filter, filler cap, level probe and drain all opened up.
