Each system would independently power each axel. It would be a "through the ground" hybrid.
Put the electric system on the rear axel though - doing burn-outs without revving an engine always takes people by surprise!

I'm pretty sure a Tracker is RWD so it would be a lot easier to make the front electric. Just loose the transfer case and get a driveshaft for a 2WD Tracker. I think there are some small SUV's though that are FWD primarily if you wnted to make the thing do burnouts with the electric motor.
