You wouldn't have to.
Each would control an axle. You would need to be able to send throttle information to each.
One way to do it would be to leave the gas engine system controlled by accelerator and then have a separate throttle for the EV system. For example, a hand control, trigger on the stick-shift, etc.
The EMIS system uses control box that plugs into the OBD2. Signal from the OBD2 is translated into a throttle control signal to the EV controller.
The vehicle wouldn't care if it were pushed by a motor on the rear axle, or pulled by a gas engine on the front, or both at the same time.
