Did you try Windows Movie Maker from Windows Live Essentials?
I use exactly this software for video editing my driving movies and I think it's really good software for free. It's pretty easy app with very user-friendly interface.
If you don't have and want install -- just hit Win button on your keyboard and enter "essentials" (without quotation).
