After a morning of replacing a roof tile, painting all of the garage and gardening I have finally earned some mod time so here goes.

Firstly I seperated the radiator area from the intake. This is Mk1 in foam board, I'll do a more weather proof one later.

I also made a small hole in the block just in front of the intake.

This is smaller than the intake, but I have only the standard 130 PD intake which is on the left of this picture

You can see that the flexi pipe behind is much narrower than the open end of the intake, which is sized to match the hole in the slam panel in my first two pictures.

I'll also have to check if these mods are service friendly, Helga is due a summer service quite soon if not overdue...

I'm tempted to do something about the lower grill now...

PS - I gave up trying to edit my videos on Windows 7 (I only have a netbook for non-work related stuff and it keeps freezing under W7) so I have installed Ubuntu 11. Does anyone have a recommendation for video editing software for Linux ?

*(Please no posts about Windows vs Linux, its a tired argument and both have their place in my geek world - ta )

Did you try Windows Movie Maker from Windows Live Essentials?
I use exactly this software for video editing my driving movies and I think it's really good software for free. It's pretty easy app with very user-friendly interface.
If you don't have and want install -- just hit Win button on your keyboard and enter "essentials" (without quotation).

Thanks - I did and have used it, and it is good. As I tapped though my non-work home PC is a netbook which locks under W7 - not sure why. Its an Asus 1201N which is nice but it just freezes sometimes for no reason even when its just left alone, and other times it can work for hours or even days. When it does lock there is no error in the event log or blue screen with some kind of error.

It hasn't locked under Linux yet so I'm experimenting with PiTiVi which seems to be reasonably OK - very similar to WMM.

Great to see those mods! I hope you see a difference in fuel consumption. Have you been monitoring intake temps?

Ha! My Mom once spent 6 months working for a research company in California. Everyone had Windows on their computers and each one crashed twice a day, on average. My Mom was the only one who had Linux and her laptop didn't crash even once during those 6 months. By the end of her stay 25% of her co-workers were on Linux

Previously they were down to around 15 on the move, but nearer 35 or more at standstill. The 15 on the move is now nearer to ambient temp (~11 today here) and about mid 20s at standstill. I may try some reflective insulation on the underside of the shelf later, I have managed to finally score some correx (coroplast) from a local sign place.

They asked me if I kept rabbits, it seems most people looking for offcuts use it to make cages or play pens for their little furry friends

One thing I have possibly noticed is that turbo lag is much less at lower engine speeds.

Thanks, I shall give it a go if this doesn't work out. The TiVio is quite good but I didn't get much time to get on with the editing as I had to go and fix a plumbing problem for an elderly neighbour before he fell off his ladder - again

Its been busy this weekend...

Helga is staying for another 12 months as I have just paid road tax for her for that period.

Videos to follow when my camera decides to work.
