i got a 98 durango with the 318CI magnum engine, 4wd, 4 speed tranny. before the face-lift, i was getting 14 mpg on the freeway, what i did was changed the spark plugs with Bosch Platinum +4, Bosch Wireset, changed the oil with plain 10w-30 autozone brand oil with a Bosch oil filter. Fram 12,000 mile air filter, autozone transmission filter, autozone brand ATF. Also Bosch Cap and Rotor.

That being said, i have boosted my mpg from 14 to 21, also, everything minus the A/C compressor has 271,000 miles. Once you go bosch you never go back! i change my engine oil every 3,000 miles to the T. air filter gets changed also at 3000 miles (can never keep enough dirt out of your engine), and i rotate my tires every oil change to keep the tread completely even.

Been a Mechanic for 8 years now, and weather you belive me or not, 271000 miles of brutal teenage hot-rodding will disprove you!
