Its a self indexing plug, gives you the absolute best burn because the spark hits where its needed, you are right tho, they usually are the wrong gap, but for the last 60k miles, I've never had a problem, and just did a similar tune up to my 01 grand am, and Its averaging 35-38 mpg. Thats 10-13 above the gov rating, they do help mpg alot. Just saying between the 5 vehicles in my fam that I up keep, and the 390 miles driven daily between us, never had engine trouble. Facts speak louder than books.
