I go the cheap easy route first to experiment. (Pick the low hanging fruit). $1.99 from Home Depot and you can get a shrink plastic window insulating film. I use it for grill block and rear tire fairings. Experiment with that and then if it helps you get the fiberglass and paint out. Others have used the foam tubes you play with in the pool, ziptied inside the grill.

I haven't done it yet but on my truck I've always wanted an electric fan instead of the belt driven one. That way you only run the fan when you need it.
