*UPDATE*
Ok, I can now attest to the fact that industrial strength Velcro is not the way to go. I had 2 failures yesterday. The first one on the passenger side back wheel while the car was parked... it just fell off. The second one was at about 55mph on a back hwy. No one was injured nor was anything hurt. The pizza pan just wound up in a ditch. I have since removed the other 2 pizza pans and will find a more secure yet reversible method of attachment.
As far as the side mirror removal. My way of thinking is this: Every little thing you do to improve the aerodynamics of a vehicle will have some positive impact on mpg. When you add a few little things together you get bigger gains.
