Tested so far at speeds of 60-65mph on hwys. No problems to report. No extra wheel noise either. This velcro stuff is the real deal. I attached 5 strips around the highest parts of the wheel and then pressed the pizza pans to it. One thing I didn't realize is that no matter what size wheel you have on your car, if you buy pizza pans to put over them you will need a 1" larger pan to accommodate. I have the stock 15" wheels on the Fit Sport, and I found that a 16" pizza pan covers them perfectly.

Materials used:

16" pizza pans from Wal-Mart - $3/pan (Total $12)
15' roll of industrial strength velcro from Wal-Mart - $19.99

Phase II may take place this weekend: removal of side mirrors. Pics to follow! *DONE*

I have deleted the side mirrors and covered the holes with a thick black rubber and double sided tape. Let me know what you guys think!

Close up of covering.

I don't think that deleting the wipers will help anything. The air flow at the base of the windshield within the pocket is almost nonexistent.

You are probably right about that, but it was there and I have noticed them move on occasion while driving down the road, so I figured removing them wouldn't hurt anything. RainX is caked up on the windshield now!

*UPDATE*

Ok, I can now attest to the fact that industrial strength Velcro is not the way to go. I had 2 failures yesterday. The first one on the passenger side back wheel while the car was parked... it just fell off. The second one was at about 55mph on a back hwy. No one was injured nor was anything hurt. The pizza pan just wound up in a ditch. I have since removed the other 2 pizza pans and will find a more secure yet reversible method of attachment.

As far as the side mirror removal. My way of thinking is this: Every little thing you do to improve the aerodynamics of a vehicle will have some positive impact on mpg. When you add a few little things together you get bigger gains.

have you tried the "3M Dual Lock" stuff? i'm also in the process of trying to find a good way to go reversible on the wheel covers.

here is a picture i had in my "aero mods" folder. its not the same gen fit but close enough!!
