Attempting to reuse a paper filter borders on the insane. They are dirt cheap and are responsible for protecting something very expensive. When their service life is over, put them in the trash and buy another. You won't be saving any trees when your engine block has to be melted down because you spun a bearing.
That being said, I am a fan of Purolator's blue oiled paper filters.
