For collecting and transferring oil, I use a modified melling M55 gear pump. It is actually the oil pump from a SBC. I found lots of stuff on how to modify them, but don't have the links handy. Basically you add new inlets and outlets and plug up the old ones, then put a motor on it. I couldn't find a high enough torque motor to spin it but my friend tried a 24 volt motor from a chinese scooter. So, I tried it and it works fine on 12 volts. I can fill or empty a 55 gal drum in roughly 10 minutes.

I also have read on a website from a guy who did a complete conversion on his idi ford about using a steering pump for transferring oil. Put a clutch on it and valves to reverse flow, then you have a fire hose more or less. I definitely don't need that much volume, but an engine driven pump would be nice.

Also, I have not needed to heat the oil for pumping with the 24 volt motor, but it certainly does pump faster when the oil is warm
