I tried using electric fuel pumps just to transfer the oil from one jug to another before putting it into my truck. One was a low pressure vibration lift pump suitable for supplying a diesel injector pump or carburetor, and the other two were intended for EFI and capable of higher pressure. All three could barely manage a trickle, and would overheat after a few minutes of struggling. My truck has a mechanical lift pump driven off the camshaft but I would imagine it would still have worked pretty hard pumping 100% WMO.
Like I said earlier, I'm no expert on the topic, but I imagine fuel heating would be required to thin the stuff out enough to pump it.

there is a whole "black art" to burning alternative fuels. People cut the thicker oils with RUG (regular unleaded gas) and all sorts of other stuff to get it to flow.

For collecting and transferring oil, I use a modified melling M55 gear pump. It is actually the oil pump from a SBC. I found lots of stuff on how to modify them, but don't have the links handy. Basically you add new inlets and outlets and plug up the old ones, then put a motor on it. I couldn't find a high enough torque motor to spin it but my friend tried a 24 volt motor from a chinese scooter. So, I tried it and it works fine on 12 volts. I can fill or empty a 55 gal drum in roughly 10 minutes.
I also have read on a website from a guy who did a complete conversion on his idi ford about using a steering pump for transferring oil. Put a clutch on it and valves to reverse flow, then you have a fire hose more or less. I definitely don't need that much volume, but an engine driven pump would be nice.
Also, I have not needed to heat the oil for pumping with the 24 volt motor, but it certainly does pump faster when the oil is warm

Got a lot of used motor oil I need to filter. Been trying a funnel and a coffee filter into 5 gallon buckets. To slow and sometimes the oil sits on top. So that's on my to-do list, find a pump to draw it up and a filter too. May just pre mix the WMO with pump diesel then try filtering.
But, on a positive note, I decided to fill up today. A positive fill up? When you're getting 54.41 mpg it is! Drove 410 miles and topped it off at 7.535 gallons. Again, for those just reading this....got the car for free, fixed the brakes, cleaned it up, put a starter in and drove it. No mods and averaging OVER 50 mpg stock.
Think the increase in FE is d/t this heat. On my coolant temp gauge, the bar reads normal. The needle would go to the r but now is at the m (noRMal).

I have a Barry Grant 255 electric fuel pump that I plan on using for the wmo. Pump it through a 10/5/2 micron filter setup, into a holding tank (read: home heating oil storage tank) which is equiped with an electric barrel pump.

Still averaging over 50 mpg in it. Using it as my daily driver. Filled up yesterday at 364 miles and had to squeeze in 7 gallons. 364 miles divided by 7 gallons of diesel = 52 mpg! Cost @ $26 to fill up.
Pump Diesel is 3.89 here in town but can get offroad diesel for 3.45. Been using a half and half split of offroad and pump diesel bringing the total to $3.67 average price for the diesel. $3.67 divided by 52 mpg = 0.07 cents per mile driving cost for this Diesel Tempo.

It's a mighty expensive ticket to have that red dye aboard. I wouldn't count out the possibility, and think the risk not worth it (especially at the rate of consumption). One of my favorite threads -- as a story -- good luck and keep us up to date.

Your cost per mile is actually pretty close to the operating cost for my EV. Generally I assume $4 of electricity per 100 miles. But keep in mind, my range drops anywhere outside of steady cruising at 50-55 MPH (I have no regenerative braking so range takes a good hit around town).
Have you made any driving videos of that car yet?
Only word of caution with the red dye is they are supposed to use a form of litmus test to detect the specific chemical in the fuel. I don't know if it will work with WMO in there but if they get suspicious they might get creative and dig until the do find the evidence. Not all jurisdictions are as thorough though, so comes down to a judgment call on your part.

Not that worried about fuel testing around here. Never had an issue and doubt that local police would ever bother. Have a lot of used oil to mix with some offroad diesel for fuel. What would be a good ratio to use for thinning? 5 gallons(pump diesel) to 1 gallon (WMO) was what I had in mind.
Here is a newer video of the Diesel Tempo. The alternator belt needs tightening often and it's a new belt. Need to tighten it every couple fill ups or @800 miles.
