She's glad that my driving is saving not only money, but resources, emissions, etc.
Dad-in-law, on the other hand, is of the "if the factory did it that way, then that's the way it should be" type, but at the same time his eyebrows go up each time I brag about my newest record tank. He rode with me a few times, but was very nervous (he's usually doing 80km/h in 4th where I'm doing 50 in 5th) and hasn't been in our car for over a year.
My brother-in-law would like to get my milage, but doesn't do diddly-squat about it. He's thought about borrowing our car for vacation thinking that its milage won't change with him behind the wheel.
Our friends don't comment on my driving too much - when they get in they stare out the window (I go so slow that the landscape isn't a blur) until they fall asleep. When they wake up they are happy to find out how little they have to pay for their share of the fuel. The only comment I got was:
- What is that beeping? And why are those warning lights flashing on the dashboard?
- Because I turned the engine off.
- Why?
- Because I won't be needing it for the next few hundred meters.
- Oh, OK.

My Grandma says that about anyone who pushes their car instead of driving it a few meters. She always says bad things about "those cheapskates" who would push their car in line to the gas station during the fuel shortages a few decades back. Recently I've started taking that as a compliment
