I'm hoping to match this with an experiment on my next tank on George. Initially reading up on MPG the guy who seems to get the best out of his "bug" (yeah I know, same name - different car) advised upshifting at 2.5K max and a max speed of 55. However my journey to work includes a steep climb and sometimes I just take a run at it instead.

The MPG when I shut off at the other end is within 2-3 MPG of each other, which is within error / different traffic ranges to me, i.e. no difference. So on my next tank and now the engine is broken in I intend to try the higher ends of the rev range

EDIT - Forgot to mention, the 2.5K change up points leaves little marging for coasting / gliding compared to before.

And being a 3 cyl it sounds like a Porsche...



...a very very slow one.
