Both Cars got good crash test ratings

Small area of weakness is the Sonatas side impact cage crushed in an inch further then the cruzes. But they were both rated excellent.
So wich car would you put your kid in or mom if you knew that it would be impacted on a side crash or rear end crash.. I know morbid question but I need to know.
Im confused that the cruze scored better but is smaller. Or in the real world does weight and length matter more then the tests would suggest
