Doug: I owned a Ninja 250 for just over 2 years. I could pull 80 mpg (imperial) or about 67 mpg (US) riding conservatively on secondary roads (80 km/h)
Not at all designed for efficiency, either. (A larger rear sprocket would help reduce rpm - they were available aftermarket, too.)
I bought it mainly because I wanted to learn to ride. After that though, I realized that it didn't really suit my needs and I sold it.
I don't commute for work, and I have the car for crummy weather, so I found it was
competing with my bicycle for local trips! Once that light bulb went on, it wasn't too long before the for sale ad was placed.
