I first heard about the KISS method back in 1983 when I was working for a PE. I never new the origins until this thread. Cool history.
Sometimes it's hard work keeping things simple, but well worth it.
Yesterday while joy riding in my vintage 911, I swung by the drive-in A&W where a 1960 MGA convertible and 1968 RS Camaro were parked. The MGA had a dash mounted rear view mirror and no side mirrors, the owner drove it like this for 30 years. Claimed he had put only about $10,000 into it over the 30 years, despite replacing the steel frame ($150) and a quite a few other things.
