Instead of Lexan, consider PETG, almost as tough, easier to work, and much cheaper. It's the tough plastic that soda bottles and most other clear plastic packages are made of, everywhere these days. Vacuum and thermo-forms easily. YouTube for it.

Got pics or details of how you used that double sided 3M tape for attachment? Foam tape might work, too.

For those of us concerned about fashion, maybe such wheel disks, etc. could be made for easy-on and -off application for highway trips at higher speeds, but removed for daily use at low speeds around town. (?)
