If they made the windshield fit the template in the front we'd be talking big bucks, but from the roof high point back it looks like they could have done way better. Conforming to the template it would have a very similar shape as a Pruis in that back area. Maybe that's why they didn't do. Sorry, just thinking out loud.
I will bet you all three of my Hot Wheels AMC Javelins that it was done purely for styling.

I saw this at a recent autocross. Is there any advantage to putting the spoiler directly behind the window as opposed to on the trailing edge of the trunk?
