Mods done so far to the car:
3.5 bars at the tires
Toyo 310 135/80R15 front tires 7% taller gearing
DRL led lights
DIY smooth hubcaps
DIY Front grill block
DIY Smaller mirrors
DIY full smooth undertray
DIY high flow exhaust pipe, also about 7kg lighter
Radio antenna delete
Aero windscreen wipers (no metals)
Weight savings:
rear seat 13kg
exhaust pipe 7kg
What rims were you using with your 15" tires? BTW I have read this way and that way about those Lupo 3L Fuchs being or not being magnesium I never could figure out if they were or not...

Have you put them on the scale ever? I finally got my Miata wheels with my Bridgestone EP100 175/65R14 put on my Mk3 (24.6lbs/11.1Kg each )

Have you considered at all "playing with" the gearing of the 5th gear? It is fairly easy to swap and the Lupo just like most other VWs (all the way to the Transporters!) share the same internal (same as in compatible) parts for the transmission

My transmission gearing plans even started a debate over here
