Also an 03 TDI has electronically-controlled injectors so it burns cleaner and makes fewer deposits in the oil.
But I`m very curious what the oil will be like in a year or two, so please report back to us Artan.
My current understanding is that by having:
- a quality synthetic oil
- an engine which burns clean and doesnt mix fuel with the oil
- a way to let absolutely no dirt in the air intake
- an easy driving style so the engine doesn`t torture the oil
you can go way longer with your oil.

Just a small correction Mr. Lowglider, Castrol Edge Turbodiesel 5W-40 isnt longlife (15000 km max or 12 months VW 505.01), Castrol Edge Turbodiesel 5W-30 is longlife (30000 km max or 24 months VW 507.00).
You are correct about TDI 03 has PD engine (pumpe Duse) direct injection nozzles. It really burns the fuel perfectly. It is very hard to see black smoke ever from th exaust, even at freezing start temperatures.
The oil has been changed 18 months ago as you can read in my previous posts.
