That was an error on my part -- it's
162 lb-ft. I used the Corolla review as a template and missed the torque number fill-in.
Even with 162, it doesn't drive like the 2.2L in the former generation. The taller gearing doesn't allow kickdown as often as expected for swift merges, etc. With the variable valve timing, there's a strong 2000-3000 RPM range, which is where the highway cruise takes place. Beyond that, it gets a bit wheezy in the 3000-4000 area, and pulls a bit better from peak hp at 4600 to the 6500 RPM shiftpoint.
It's still sufficient, but not earth-shattering. 0-60 is in 10-seconds, which can be considered "slow" my most of the public. The V-6, of course, is much quicker. In the Aura, it was pretty brisk.
