Definitely in agreement.
With 4 adults and luggage, it took some effort for highway on-ramps -- but otherwise, it wasn't like it was "Dangerously Slow". It could have had 20 fewer horses and it would've been fine.
Driving around town, the low-end power was great. No complaints.
I do think that GM's reliability is improving (not the best, but getting better). I've driven some beat-up previous generation Malibus at the end of their rental life (usually 30K miles) and they drove fine. Consider than scenario an "accelerated aging process". It seems like the interior bits tend to break or wear first. I see 2005's around town that look pretty good outwardly.
