I believe it was a 1.6 gas boxer. Definitely aircooled. It's basically a bay body with a split greenhouse.

Those watercooled bays are still produced in South America, so technically they are later than even Eurovans.
I'm familiar with the Rumpler. Quite a sweet car. Too bad so many were wrecked in the filming of Metropolis.
