They both have the same intake, except the Sirion has the additional tube. What is it for ?

I'm wondering if its a temp control intake, maybe lets air in from near the exhaust when cold and then from behind the grill when warm.
It doesnt look like It varies its intake location at all on the Sirion..

And for petrol cars you want Warm Air Intake for fuel economies
