Wouldn't silicone will be a pain to remove ? The nostril covers are small and rigid enough I think, but I'll keep an eye on them.

this guy found the temps are high anyway even with a tube from behind the grill fitted.

So when arriving at work, I removed the air filter cover, and used my IR thermometer to check the temperature of the valve cover directly underneath the air intake:
