As Frank Lee would probably say, put one wheel in the rear, and loose all that stuff hanging out in the air, Oh but the handling! Actually, I was going to use a similar concept on my X-Prize car as the Neon, although with smaller air "tunnels" inboard of the rear wheels. The overall drag is still worse than if the sides of the car stay solid past the rear wheels, as on the Probe, EV-1, etc.
