About the Mitsubishi 2.5 diesel...
This one is very common here in Europe and it happens to be the power source in my pickup. I put some data on it a while ago in the thread

It seems all the Japanese 4x4 diesel pickups are manufactured in Thailand (Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux, Izuzu D-max etc).
Prices there (locally) are very good and since the country is literally crowded with such vehicles, it should be possible to get one for a song. Go there for a nice vacation, load it with spares to keep you going and then roll on to a ship heading for home...
