About the Mitsubishi 2.5 diesel...
This one is very common here in Europe and it happens to be the power source in my pickup. I put some data on it a while ago in the thread http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...l-19100-2.html

It seems all the Japanese 4x4 diesel pickups are manufactured in Thailand (Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux, Izuzu D-max etc).

Prices there (locally) are very good and since the country is literally crowded with such vehicles, it should be possible to get one for a song. Go there for a nice vacation, load it with spares to keep you going and then roll on to a ship heading for home...

I live in the snow belt. Last winte we got 20ft of snow in a short time. Blowing and piling up nicely. There was a 4x4 full size pickup truck stuck in the middle of the rOad. I had a land rover discovery with 235 85 16 (tall and skinny) mud tires and pulled him out. I ran full throttle for the last three miles crawling along and killed the engine getting home. I would get another I it wasn't for memories of 10 mpg trips

Same storm I had to get to a hospital. The ambulance picked me up and we got stuck a mile down the road. Lucky a snowplow came along. I love 4x4. I'm still looking for a rust free Suzuki sidekick, had one serve me well.

When the snow bit last year I thought about a Panda 4x4 with the 1.3 Multijet Diesel

But even in my Fabia with 55 profile "racing" tyres I didn't get stuck at all, so I decided not to bother. Which is lucky as FIAT decided to stop importing the Diesel ones and the Multijet has a DPF which gives all sorts of problems - apparently.

Not bad motors, those. Mitsu's current 2.5 DiDs make about 178 bhp... give you as much top-end poke as naturally aspirated 2.5 liter gasoline motors and as much torque as 3 liter V6s. And the Triton platform is one of the few Thai-made ladder frames to actually score well on EuroNCAP tests.

I haven't tried crashing the car yet but the engine is powerful enough. I sometimes get motion sickness when using pulse & glide...
