Looks like a good base to work with. 1.5 liter engine and a 5-speed. I'm pretty sure the DX has somewhat taller gearing than most of the other Civics, too.

DX's came without a tach. Many of them have had a tach swapped in by now. It's pretty easy to swap one in from another Civic of same vintage. If you want, I'll post the link for a how-to.
