On both my pick up truck and vintage 911 I can tell someone is in my blind spot by how much resistance I encounter. If I'm breaking someone else's wind I can feel it from the sudden increase/pushing and then slow down I experience.

I once had a big black SUV in my blindspot, I knew he/she was there even before I looked, not based on sound or sight, but on the effects of their mass beside me. Ever since then I've trained myself to notice the tell tale signs.
