Pulled the hatch off the other day so I could work on the next version of the ducktail...it's gonna be a rigid sliding one. Figure I'd use some of my 20" wide aluminum flashing and secure that to the top of the cab roof so it makes a pocket. Gonna try some 4mm Coroplast as my slider as it should be able to fit in between the roof indentions the Xtra-cabs have (regular cabs don't have them). I figure it should be able to slide out about 10" to cover the gap pretty well while leaving enough in the pocket to support it. I'm gonna have to make some stops so it doesn't automatically come flying out when I'm driving down the road...

Had fun pulling up the VHB tape...

Got the sliding ducktail in place...

Currently using some Coroplast as the slider and some of aluminum flashing as the cover secured with Gorilla tape (temporary fer testing). Kinda stiff sliding it in/out. Might try a single sheet of aluminum flashing on a trial run...

Closed...

Open...

Gonna peruse craigslist fer a free washer/dryer/fridge fer the sheet metal...
