Like Ryland said, the purpose of a hot-air intake is to actually get hot air into the engine. It increases the engine's thermal efficiency, by recirculating waste heat back into the engine.

Aside from that, the only effect you will get from "spoofing" the ACTS is to make the engine run lean during open-loop mode.

And I know, from personal experience, that having the ACTS report a much higher temperature than the actual temperature can cause driveability problems when the engine is cold.
