I think it's a great design for fuel delivery because to make a carburetor have the same kind of control as fuel injection you end up with a really complex carburetor like the older Honda Civics have with 57 vacuum lines connecting up to it to control different things.
I'm still a bit baffled as to what your goal is with trying to trick the computer in to thinking you have warmer air coming in then you do because the idea behind a warm air intake is to improve mileage not by tricking the computer but by warming the air and taking advantage of the engine using less fuel with that warmer air.

carburators are bad , terrible in fact

any system with fuel injection and feedback from 02 sensors with electronic spark timing
is so far superior to any system that uses a carburetor that i am at a loss for word s to describe it

do not think you can switch an injected system to a carburetor and have "good" results or anything near to the quality of the original

Like Ryland said, the purpose of a hot-air intake is to actually get hot air into the engine. It increases the engine's thermal efficiency, by recirculating waste heat back into the engine.

Aside from that, the only effect you will get from "spoofing" the ACTS is to make the engine run lean during open-loop mode.

And I know, from personal experience, that having the ACTS report a much higher temperature than the actual temperature can cause driveability problems when the engine is cold.

most systems except for VW / Audi will be in closed loop in 30 seconds to 1 minute from cold start , no system will operate in open loop for very long when functioning as designed .

so
the air temp sensor can not cause the system to operate either rich or lean as the AFR or 02 sensor will provide feedback to maintain the air fuel ratio desired by the ECM at the time
which may or may not be stoich 14.7 to 1 but usually is on gasoline engines .

tampering with the values of the
the air temp sensor can have an influence on the ignition timing map and may disable certain functions or testing as the criteria will be out of range - while in closed loop , the ECM may choose to substitute a more plausible value if it is unhappy with the tampered with value depending on the sophistication of the system in question.
