Love the 1.6L Love BAJA bugs. this could become a serious project for me.

the 1.6 td I have intercooled, done pump mods to it, timing advance, ARP head studs thicker head gasket,(lower compression) and running 23psi of boost. Would be the perfect swap engine.

on summer diesel and summer tires it would get 47mpg us.
on winter diesel and snow tires it got 43mpg us.
thats hard driving thru the mountains around here. (kelowna to vancouver)
120km/h bursts up to 140km/h
proven once a week (1000km) for 8 months
ha! an ahole in a big dodge truck turned wide because he wasn't paying attention and totaled my '88 rabbit cabriolet, first car. idiot.
