Versions of this question come up often. Search this site regarding air intakes and fuel economy and you'll find a bunch of answers to it. But to save you time... the answer to your question is "no." I have a very similar car to your 1998 HX (a 1998 DX). I was able to show that a so-called "warm air intake" helps FE on my DX, but your HX has lean burn and EGR features mine does not. You could test. Check my car's entry in the "garage" section of this site. You might find ideas there that you would like to try on you Civic. -james
