I empty mine at oil change intervals, so the gunk gets dumped into the oil change drain pan -> taken to auto parts store when new oil/filter is bought (recycled) -> return to step one.
I change oil on 5-6 cars in the family, so throwing it in the trash wouldn't be feasible, let alone responsible.
So, I'm trying to understand how this sealed system that returns gasses directly to the intake is venting HCs:

Is there a disconnect between a commercially bought "Catch Can", and a DIY system, as pictured (and what Josh8loop has prepared)?
