They remained employed until they retired so it worked for them.
Trust works both ways - you buy something from a shop and it goes wrong and they fix it you go back. If it goes wrong twice and they fix it twice you go back again.
You buy something from a shop and it lasts twice as long and then the shop refuses to fix it when it does go wrong you never go back.
This was a British Leyland dealership - they had a lot of time in the first category.
