If it wasn't so common to get the shaft from shops, customers would likely have never even thought of doing such things as marking their parts. Hmm, protecting one's interests, how uncalled for.

Then again, if the motorist took the time to crawl around under there with a marking tool, perhaps they could have just completed the mechanic work themselves?

Doesn't matter to me anyhow; nothing I own has been inside a service shop for 30 years except for a warranty job and having tires mounted.
