I've had several older( think 70's) KZ motorcycles, an all have been chain drive. All KZs that I've heard of from that era( early 70s into the 80s) have been bulletproof. I generally ride my bikes to death( literally the last stop before total scrap), and only sold my KZs for more than I bought them for, and in running condition. Never left me stranded, and I had some 5-year-woodpile-leaners.
Also, I completely forgot that I've had a '57 Ducati Desmo 250 one lunger. Bought it as a basket case that someone had gone to the trouble of painting all the non-chrome parts, taken the engine apart to clean it, and dumping the parts( and a spare engine) in a box. I got the bike all assembled, except the engine, moved 200 miles away for a new job, gave the bike to my Brother-in-Law, and have no idea where it is now.
